Born in Asheboro, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Israel and Rose (Rosenburg) Wagger. Beloved wife of the late Bernard C. Sorkin, her “Bernie.” Devoted mother of Paul Sorkin (Joan Beron) and Sara Kofman (Andrew). Cherished grandmother of Brenna Sorkin, Joseph Kofman and Brian Kofman. Loving sister of Jerry Wagger (Bobbie). Beloved sister-in-law of Barry Sorkin (Paul Kimball) and the late Robert Sorkin (Nancy).
Vici grew up in Asheboro and High Point, North Carolina. She went to Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she graduated with a Bachelor’s in education and dental hygiene. Vici met Bernie while he was attending Temple’s Dental School. They were married after he graduated and a few years later found themselves stationed in Germany while Bernie was an Army Dentist. They enjoyed traveling all over Europe during their time there. They returned and settled in New Jersey where Paul and Sara grew up. Vici was a homemaker while the kids were in school. In later years, Vici returned to work as a dental hygienist, even working with Bernie in the same practice at one point.
Vici’s greatest joys were her husband, her children and her grandchildren. She always wanted to be a mother and was so happy to have a son and a daughter, then a son-in-law and a daughter-in-law and then three grandchildren.
After Bernie’s passing, Vici moved to Massachusetts to be closer to her children and grandchildren. Vici enjoyed taking art classes and turned out to have some artistic talent with her work being displayed at art shows where she lived. She took up Tai Chi, went on trips to see local musicals, and for a number of years was a contributor to her community’s monthly newsletter. Of course, she also enjoyed spending time with family and watching her grandchildren grow up. In more recent years, she also enjoyed bingo, exercise class and attending Shabbat services while continuing to paint and draw.
Vici was always a kind and generous person who loved giving gifts (especially Hershey’s chocolate bars) and donating to charity.
