

Her father Hugo was conscripted into the German army and Brigitte was raised by her mother Lydia and grandmother. Despite the hardships of war, she had a happy childhood. Brigitte graduated from parochial high school and business school and then went to England to work as an au pair, taking care of two little boys while she was attending evening classes at University of Cambridge. After she returned to Germany, Brigitte worked for the American Occupation Army as a secretary and translator, where she met, fell in love with, and married her soldier boy sweetheart, Ted. In 1963, after Ted’s tour of duty was over, she moved to the U.S. and eventually became a proud U.S. citizen. Ted and Brigitte were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Mary Anne and Catherine Lydia Williams.
Brigitte is survived by her loving husband, Ted, her daughter, Catherine (Derek), two grandsons, Ian and Alec Hegarty, her sister, Ilse Deubel, two brothers-in-law, Dave and Joe Dluzyn, and one niece and four nephews.
Along with her parents, Brigitte is preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Anne.
Per Brigitte’s wishes, she will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at Karlo-Libby Funeral Home on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 11:00 am. The family will greet friends and family prior to the service from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. She will be privately laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery in Akron at a later date.
