

He was born in North Lawrence, OH on June 14, 1933 to the late Fredrick J. and Florence C. (Boron) Konen. Carl was a graduate of Washington High School, Class of 1950. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army 101st Airborne for 2 years. His work history included 30 years at McDonaldsville Feed, and 20 years at Sunset Hills Cemetery. He retired from Rose Hill Cemetery at age 75. Carl was a member of St. Francis de Sales. He enjoyed farming, and serving as a referee, and was instrumental in developing Jackson Midget Football League.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Schalmo, and Martha Seifert; brothers, Clement and Arthur Konen; and son, Thomas Konen. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Beverly; children, Carl L. Konen, Jr. (Patti), Eleanor M. Masalko (Rocky), and Matthew B. Konen (Cathy); 7 grandchildren, Carl L. Konen, III (Samantha), Cassandra L. Konen, Cailee L. Konen, Breanna L. Aegerter (Ian), Katelyn R. Masalko, Danielle R. Williams (Dan), and Matthew J. Konen; 5 great-grandchildren, Lillian G. Konen, Carl L. Konen, IV, Kensley A. Konen, Lucas S. Konen, and Avery R. Williams; many nieces and nephews; and faithful companion, Cindy, his dog.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Monday at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 1800 Steese Road, Uniontown, Ohio 44685. Interment will be in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call Sunday from 2-4pm in the Karlo-Libby Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association or to Crossroads Hospice. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of Crossroads Hospice for the comfort and care they provided to Carl and his family.
