Elva Irene Zwick

Born and raised in Flushing, Ohio, Irene later moved to Canton. In 1977, she married her husband, Dale, sharing 36 years of marriage and 46 years by each other’s side until his passing in 2013.

Irene loved her family unconditionally and without expectation; she was the peace and love at the heart of her home. Her children’s and grandchildren’s biggest fan, she consistently put their needs above her own. This warmth extended to her professional life at her restaurant, Meet Me at Irene’s in Hartville, Ohio, where her luminous personality and beautiful smile turned patrons into friends.

She loved cheering on her favorite sports team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, even attending games 3 and 6 of the 2016 NBA Finals. She also cherished her pets, especially her dog, Skye, who provided constant companionship and "back support" while claiming most of the bed.

Irene often said her life was full of everything she could have ever asked for. She found fulfillment in her love for family and friends, and took comfort in her unwavering faith that the Heavenly Father would welcome her home with open arms.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband, E. Dale Zwick; her parents, Thoburn Williams and Josephine Isabell Walter; her sisters, Alice Scott, Arvella Michniak, Louise Nimon, and Carrie Holstein; and her brothers, Donald and Henry Williams.

She is survived by her sister Edna Heade, her children: Dawn Dagy of Canton, OH; Destry Dagy of San Diego, CA; Beryl(Dina)Dagy of Oceanside, CA; Robin(Tim)Rupp of Canton, OH; and Tobi Dagy of Canton, OH (who was also her devoted caretaker, allowing Irene to spend her final chapter at home). She also leaves behind many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A private memorial will be held by her family, and she will be interred with her mother at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens in Canton.
