

Eugenia “Genie” L. Frank, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family on Easter Sunday, April 5, at the age of 94.
Genie was born in Canton, Ohio in 1931 to Leo and Margaret (Duquette) Gill. She graduated from North Canton Hoover High School in 1949 and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1952. She was a dedicated nurse for many years, beginning her career at Mercy Hospital in the operating room, transitioning to labor and delivery unit, and later working for Dr. Gray at the Stark County Eye Clinic. After retiring, she continued to care for others by volunteering at Mercy Hospital in the outpatient department for many years.
Genie shared 47 wonderful years of marriage with her husband Russell Frank, who passed in 2001. Together they built a life centered around faith, love, and family. Genie and Russell made a home together on the Frank family farm where she enjoyed hosting holiday gatherings and baking. In addition to taking care of farm animals, Genie particularly loved her kittens. Genie and Russell enjoyed traveling and Western Square Dancing together. They were charter members and dedicated parishioners at St. Michael the Archangel where Genie served as a Eucharistic minister and in the Hope Ministry. Genie was also a member of the Jackson Township Historical Society.
Genie is preceded in death by her brother, Leo Arden Gill, and sister, Margaret ‘Peggy’ Kennedy. She is survived by her three children, Michael (Judi) Frank, Barbara (Les) Moor, and Melissa (Bradley) Metzger; her six grandchildren, Brian (Becky) Frank, Sarah (Brian) Grafton, Johnathan (Aimee) Moor, Heather (Daniel) Lollman, Jordan (Hank) Bryant, Megan Metzger, and Madeline Metzger. She was also blessed with 9 great-grandchildren, Leo, Ellie, Amelia, Adalynn, Flora, Mary, Benjamin, Brooklyn, and Russell who loved their Nanna dearly.
Calling hours for Genie will be held at Karlo-Libby Funeral Home on Friday, April 10, 2026, from 12:00-1:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday at St. Michael the Archangel at 2:00 pm with entombment to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
