James U. "Skip" McDowell

He was born February 5, 1927 in Canton, Ohio to the late Horace Greeley and Vera (Humbert) McDowell. James was a graduate of North Canton High School, and an Army veteran of WWII. He retired from East Ohio Gas Company, and was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, North Canton. James enjoyed his family, and outdoor activities such as farming and gardening.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Vera A. (Williams) McDowell; and a brother, Horace G. McDowell. He is survived by his children, James U. (Bonnie) McDowell, Jr., of Canton, and Linda D. (Paul) Miller of Newcomerstown; three grandchildren, Kyle Miller, Cassie Gaskill, and Mollie McDowell.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday in the Karlo-Libby Funeral Home, with Rev. Gary Smith officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 6-8pm on Friday in the funeral home.
