Jan was born May 6, 1943 in North Canton, Ohio to the late Orlin and Leona (Dunlap) Wyant. She was a graduate of Hoover High School and of Rittners School of Floral Design in Boston. She was a member of Church of the Lakes United Methodist Church. Jan designed and dressed display windows for Stern and Mann's Department Store in downtown Canton. She loved dogs, especially poodles and cocker spaniels, and fell in love with her last pet, Ashley, the Russian Blue kitten. Jan loved crafting and antiquing to the point that the family joke was they "lived in a museum". Jan will be remembered as a very driven and creative person whose ability to overcome life's obstacles was inspiring to all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Jeff Maurer; sons, Scott (Shannon) Barnhill, Jeff (Angela) Barnhill, and Patrick (Monica) Barnhill; seven grandchildren; and sister, Marlene Haskell.
