Judith “Judy” Anne McCune, 83, passed away on December 17, 2025.
Judy was born on November 8, 1942, in Missouri to the late Mark and Clarice (Wilson) Watson, Jr. She graduated from Coe College with a BA in Chemistry and Math, which is where she met Harold K. McCune, whom she married on Sept 12, 1964. Her and her family moved to Ohio in 1975, and she went on to graduate from University of Akron with her PhD in Chemistry in 2001. In her free time, Judy loved tennis, bowling, trivia, crosswords, needle craft, puzzles, and amateur radio (N8AIM). She also enjoyed hiking and camping with her family. For many years, she worked as an instructor at the University of Akron and as a self-employed tax preparer. Judy was longtime member of the Zion United Church of Christ as well as a member of The Red Hat Society and Quarter Century Wireless Association, chapter #21. She also volunteered for many organizations, with Meals on Wheels being the most recent one.
Judy is survived by her sons, Robert and David McCune, and several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, Judy is preceded in death by her husband, Harold, and two sisters, Margaret “Peggy” Rifleman and Joan Longo.
Per her wishes, Judy will be cremated, and a memorial service will be held at Zion United Church of Christ on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at 11:00 am. Calling hours will be held at the church prior to the service from 10:00 – 11:00 am.
