Someone just sent me this obituary and I would be remiss if I did not contribute to this page. For 44 years I was the music director of music at a church in Canton. Karl, was the tuner of their pianos before I arrived there and continued on with me for 44 years tuning the pianos of the church. Many a time he had just finished the tuning and the next day or so a few notes “drifted”. He came back Andre tuned the miscreant notes! Once a string broke the day before a concert we were to have and he came over and fixed it - no charge.

Situations like this went on for four decades and Karl was always there to take care of it. On a final note…… when I started there he charged a mere $45.00 - 44 years later he still charged $45.00. That say it all. Rest In peace Karl your piano family misses your greatly.


I'm a piano teacher. Mr. Kratz tuned my pianos for years. He once came to a group lesson I had to explain to the kids how pianos work. Early in my teaching career he challenged me to upgrade my instrument, saying, "When are you going to get a better piano?"
He also returned multiple times to repair a difficult pedal issue, refusing to charge extra, saying, "I'm not going to be bested by this pedal!" I always appreciated his gentle manner and will miss him!

I would like to say that Karl was very kind and intelligent person, a master in his profession. He always responded promptly when I had any problem with my piano, and he helped me in the multiple occasions during the last 28 years  in tuning and fixing it. 
I'll always remember his warm and kind smile.


So sorry for your loss he was such a great guy always with a smile he will be greatly missed by all who new him, He will now be with my Dad in Heaven

Uncle Carl always had a smile going, I have a picture of my dad riding Uncle Carl’s Indian motorcycle hanging in our living room. I own a couple Harley’s and Uncle Carl would always ask me about what they were and tell me about his Indian. Every once in awhile when I am out and about someone will ask if I am related to a Carl Kratz, yes I am, they say he just tuned our piano, this has happened quite a few times to me ! Uncle Carl must have done a great job tuning them from the different areas I was in when asked if I knew him. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family, Robert Kratz family 

I loved the  weekly breakfast at Buehler’s with my brothers. Family members often joined us. Great Times!!

I am so sorry to hear of Uncle Karl’s passing. I will always remember his beautiful smile. Every time I talked with him, he was smiling.
