

Leopold Fuchs 80, of Canton, Ohio passed peacefully surrounded by his family on January 18th, 2018 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was born in Jabuka, Yugoslavia on June 25th, 1937 to Magdalena (Juhas) Fuchs and Wenzel Fuchs. Leo immigrated to the United States in 1954 where he became a resident of Mansfield, Ohio with his mother, sister, Josephine (Fuchs) Kirst, and Josephine’s family (Karl, Fred, & Karl Jr). This is also where he met his wife, Donna Fuchs of 55 years.
Leo received his degree in Mechanical Engineering from Ohio State University where he was a member and captain of the Ohio State Soccer Team. He was a passionate Ohio State football fan (Go Buckeyes!) and a member of the Mansfield Liederkranz soccer team. He loved working in his yard and growing roses. He had an undying love and passion for his wife, Donna and found great joy in spending time with his grandchildren and family. He moved his family many times over the years, from Springfield, TN, Nashville, TN, Hopkinsville, KY, Battle Creek, MI, Knoxville, TN to Canton, OH, but no matter where he lived, he became part of the community with determination and an open heart. He’ll be missed by many for his quick wit, generous laughter, and gracious smile.
He’s proceeded in passing by his parents, Magdalena & Wenzel Fuchs; sister, Josephine (Fuchs) Kirst, brothers-in-law, Karl Kirst, Stephan Lively, and his dearest friend, Billy Adams of Springfield, TN. Leo is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Donna (Lively) Fuchs and children, Greg Fuchs, Leigh Anne (Fuchs) Kummer, Chrystel Nicole(Fuchs) Garcia, son-in-law, Scott Garcia. He left too soon from six loving grandchildren: Spencer Kummer, Zachary Kummer, Anthony Garcia, Mitchell Garcia, Nolan Fuchs, and Stephanie Maizon, along with several nieces and nephews.
At this time the family will hold a small private ceremony, but will have a celebration of life on June 25th of this year. The family wishes that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Leo be made to any of the following charities; American Parkinson Disease Association , American Heart Association, the American Red Cross, and your local animal shelter.
