Born on March 5, 1947, in Akron, Ohio, to Frank and Elizabeth Pesko, Nanette grew up in the Akron area and built her life around the values of hard work, family, and quiet strength. She dedicated over 30 years of her career to Diebold, contributing to the company's legacy.
Above all, Nanette (Nanny) cherished her family. She found her greatest joy in the moments shared with her loved ones—watching her children and grandchildren grow, celebrating milestones, and simply being together. Her warm presence, unwavering support, and deep love left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
She is survived by her loving husband of many years, James E. Smith; her daughter, Lisa (David) Ballinger; her son, James E. Smith Jr.; her brother, Frank (Veronica) Pesko; her sisters, Toni Giordano and Josette Whitman; her cherished grandchildren, Nathan (Samantha) Ballinger, Katelyn Ballinger, and Victoria Smith; her great-grandchildren, Miles and Levi Ballinger; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
There will be no formal service. In honor of Nanette's memory and her courageous spirit, the family requests that any donations be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) at www.bcrf.org, an organization dedicated to advancing research to prevent and cure breast cancer.
Nanette lived a life filled with love, dedication, and family devotion. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered in the hearts of all who knew her.
