Patricia Ann Zumstein Davis Moore Brittain went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on November 1, 2014. She was born in Canton, Ohio, on July 31, 1930 to Paul M. and Harriet Wolfe Zumstein. Pat was raised by her paternal grandparents Arthur and Edna Zumstein since the age of three and provided care for them until their deaths. She was a 1949 graduate of Timken Vocational High School. Pat worked a number of clerical and secretarial jobs and later served as a trust officer for People’s Merchant Bank.
Pat was an elder at Christ Presbyterian Church and was actively involved there for many years. Most recently she was a member of First Church of the Nazarene. She had several close friends, including June Neff, of Kent, Ohio, Mary Peterson, and Pam and Rich McElroy of Canton. For many years Pat was also part of the Mary/Martha Women’s Bible Study Group, and it was these ladies, along with her steadfast family members, who held Pat up in prayer and ministered to her at her bedside during her last days. Pat also had a deep love for her animal friends, especially her cats, “Tweety” being her favorite.
Pat lost three loving husbands: Edgar “Ted” Davis, Jr., Frank Moore, Jr., and Edward G. Brittain and resided with them at her home on Norman Ave. NW before moving to nearby Stone’s Crossing Retirement Village. More recently Pat lived at The Canton Regency. She is survived by two stepsons, Rob L. Moore (Kris) and their daughters, Vickie and Katie of Novelty, Ohio, and Ralph E. Brittain (Susan) of Medina.
Pat was a woman of beauty and humor. She loved her Lord and served Him faithfully. She battled cancer with courage, dignity and grace. A special thanks to the staffs at Stone’s Crossing and The Regency as well as the doctors, nurses, and caregivers at Aultman’s Compassionate Care Center on Woodlawn Avenue. Helping Hands and Aultman Hospice nurses with their loving care, devotion and attention made Pat’s last days on earth happy and meaningful ones. Also, much appreciation to Pastors Chad Current and Dan Hanson of The First Church of the Nazarene, as well as Pastors Cathy Arble and Ryan Johanning of John Knox Presbyterian Church, where several of Pat’s friends attend.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, November 6 at The First Church of the Nazarene on 30th Street NW in Canton. A luncheon will follow the service, where the family will greet those in attendance. Interment will be conducted by Pastor Dan Hanson at Sunset Hills Burial Park in Canton after the luncheon. In lieu of flowers, donations in Patricia Brittain’s name may be made to Aultman Hospice Compassionate Care Center at 2821 Woodlawn Avenue NW, Canton, OH 44708 or The First Church of the Nazarene at 522 30th Street NW, Canton, OH 44709. Arrangements under the direction of Karlo-Libby Funeral Home.
