

Richard was born in Canton, OH to the late Louis Anthony and Fearn Elta (Habel) Clauss. He graduated from Timken High School and went on to serve in the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1952 until he was honorably discharged. He worked at the Hoover Company for many years. He completed his Bachelor’s degree from Kent State University later in life while working full-time and raising his family. After leaving the Hoover Company, he then went on to work for the Canton Glove Company as the Plant Manager where he finished his career, retiring in 1993. Richard enjoyed spending his free time golfing, bowling, and fishing. He loved spending time up at Lake Erie with friends and family. He loved entertaining friends and hosting parties. He moved to Venice, Florida in 2002 where he enjoyed meeting up with friends at the Outlook for his weekly beer until he finally moved to Dunedin to spend time with his daughter and son.
He was married to Esther Theiss, who preceded him in death in 1970.
Richard is survived by his three children: Louis and Timothy Clauss, and Amy (Scott Cichocki) Ribar; sister, Joyce (Carlos) Villarreal, four nieces and nephews: Carlos (Nazira), Tere (Victor), Luis and Suzy (Fernando); and many great-nieces and nephews.
A graveside service for Richard will be held at the round chapel at Sunset Hills Burial Park on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Gary Smith officiating.
