He was born May 15, 1944 in Kensington, Ohio. He was a graduate of Minerva High School. Spanky was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles, American Legion Post 548, Elks Lodge #305, and Dante Alighieri Mutual Benefit Society.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Kirsch; son, Richard Dale Kirsch, Jr.; parents, Willard "Mike" Shaver and Ada Shaver; brother, Cecil Shaver. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Mandy Kirsch; sister, Betty (Monte) Hall; brother, Willard "Ed" Shaver; and loving companion, Kathy DeVaul.
A visitation for Richard will be held Monday, February 19, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Karlo-Libby Funeral Home, 5000 Everhard Rd NW, Canton, Ohio 44718.
