

Ron, beloved husband, father, uncle, grandfather and dear friend, passed away peacefully, among family, on January 21, 2026 at the age of 80 in Leesburg, FL. He was born on March 30th, 1945 in Canton, Ohio to Freeman George Egner and Barbara Egner (Stoll).
A devoted advocate for Veterans and friend to many, Ron was known for his wonderful positive attitude, a passion for his country, fishing and love of animals which brought joy and connection to all who knew him.
Ron attended and played basketball at Perry High School graduating in 1963. He was a veteran of the US Airforce serving from 1965 to 1968 with deployment to Vietnam during the war. Ron returned home and enrolled at Kent State University earning a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1974. He was a member and friend at Trinity United Church of Christ in Canton. For many years, Ron and his family attended services and were active in the community. Ron was employed at LTV Steel until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Danby; his children, Matthew Egner and Molly Shear; and his grandchildren, and Ramona, Cora, and Everly. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Leanne Egner (Skelton); his caring and kind sister, Margaret Cassidy; and his parents, Freeman and Barbara.
A visitation will be held on February 5th, 2026 from 10 am to 11 am at Karlo-Libby Funeral Home, located at 5000 Everhard Rd NW, Canton, OH 44718. The Commemoration of Life service will take place immediately following at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Ron’s memory to any local veteran’s support organization.
