He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jeanne Swank and son, Darryl Swank.
He served in the US Navy during World War II. During that time, Russell and Jeanne were married, spending 71 years together as husband and wife.
He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber with 32 years of service. He was an avid Massillon Tiger fan rarely missing a game while he lived in Ohio. After moving to Florida and then onto North Carolina, he continued to get Tiger updates from his family and friends or listened to the games on the radio through the Internet.
He spent many years boating and skiing... the ski jump was his favorite. He also played a lot of golf.
He is survived by daughter, Marcia Caveslio and husband, Jeff; son, Jim Swank and wife, Renee, Chuck Stoner; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by family and friends. He is now back together with the love of his life (Jeanne).
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 2, at 10:30 a.m. at Karlo Libby Funeral Home in Canton. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Sunset Hills.
