Barbara was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on July 25, 1942 to Harold A and Gwen R. Maylie Peritz. Her family moved to Texas in 1945. Barbara attended Catholic Schools for 14 years and graduated from Our Lady of Good Counsel in 1960. She attended the University of Dallas for two and a half years and SMU for a Semester. She graduated from Executive Secretarial School and became a legal secretary. She was employed by Hesse Envelope Company in Dallas for nine years before moving to Van Zandt County where she has resided for forty years in the Whitton Community. She later worked at the County Extension Office and the Canton Nursing Home as an assistant administrator.
On December 26, 1972, Barbara married the love of her life, Jack Golden, and they spent forty-six happy and loving years together. Her Smile could light up a room and her laugh was contagious. Barbara never met a stranger and her welcoming and hospitable personality will not soon be forgotten.
On December 17th, after a short battle with cancer, her loving God called her home, surrounded by family, friends and church members. Her spirit ascended into Heaven. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; aunts and uncles.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Jack; brother, Don Peritz; nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews; step-son, Don Golden and step-daughter, Cindy Jordan.
Interment will be in Haven of Memories Memorial Park. A Rosary will be held at 1 pm with a visitation at 1:30 pm Saturday at the Chapel.
