Dennis was a loving husband, father, brother and friend. He was born in Roseburg, Oregon to the late Percy and Eloise Buss on June 3rd, 1949. Dennis grew up in Roseburg and graduated from Roseburg High School in 1967.
Dennis spent many years in Oregon and several summers on the Oregon Coast helping with the family Dairy before he went on to play football at Oregon State University. After college he went into the timber industry where he would later become known as the "Timber Yoda”. Dennis was involved in the timber business for many, many years. His love for the industry took him up to Washington State where he met the love of his life.
Dennis was living in Cle Elum, Washington when he met his wife Lise Buss. He and Lise wed on August 27th, 1988 and were happily married for over 34 years. She and Dennis lived in Concrete, Washington for nearly 20 years before relocating to Arlington, Washington. Unfortunately, Lise became ill and passed away in 2022. After the passing of his beautiful wife, Dennis moved to Canton, Texas to be near his daughter Katie and her husband Tony.
Dennis touched the lives of everyone he met. He was a man full of life and laughter. Not often did you find him without a big smile on his face. He was the life of the party, teller of all the jokes, the most forgetful person you knew, and also one of the kindest.
He was such a happy-go-lucky guy. Dennis was smart, witty, carefree, generous, protective, loyal and genuine. He was strong, brave and such a fighter. He was an outdoorsman, who loved hunting and fishing. Dennis was a woodworker, a craftsman and was proud to be such a big part of the timber industry for so many years. He enjoyed camping and was the king of cooking campfire dinners. He made Christmas magical for everyone. With his bright white beard and jolly spirit, some would even say he was the “Real Santa”.
Dennis was a devoted husband, father, grandpa and friend who cared greatly for his family and friends. He was so proud of his family and leaves behind many beautiful memories with them.
Dennis was the best kind of friend to have. He never met a stranger and he cherished the friendships he made over the years. He treasured all of the good conversations, all the beautiful memories made with his family and friends, and all of the amazing relationships he made over the years. He was loved by so many. Dennis Buss was truly one of a kind, a legend, and will be deeply missed.
Dennis was preceded in death by his father Percy Walter Buss; mother and stepfather Eloise and Chuck Crabaugh, beloved wife Lise Buss; and brother Ron Buss.
Dennis is survived by his daughter Jessica Willie and husband Chris Willie, of Longview, Washington; his daughter Katie McFarland and husband Tony McFarland, of Canton, Texas; his three grandchildren Kaleb Carr and wife Kourtney, Colton Willie and Kaleigh Willie, of Longview; his great-grandchild Walker Carr; his brother in-law Dane Larsen and wife Karyn of Cle Elum, Washington; sister in-law Viveca Mackner and husband Pat of Snoqualmie Pass, Washington; his sweet dogs Winnie and Daisy; and many friends.
