Finis Howard Brewer Sr.

Finis grew up in Canton and graduated from Canton High School where he was a proud member of the very first Canton High School band. He later met and married the love of his life, Jeta Goss Brewer of Wills Point, in a simple ceremony at the Dallas home of one of her two sisters. Finis, being the hard-working man he was, has worked in many different industries, including Texas Instruments as an inspector, Editor in Chief and co-owner with his wife, Jeta, of the Free State News and the First Monday Trader, some other publications, and Star Printing, a print shop and office supply store in Canton. Finis and Jeta raised their family in Canton and were long time members of Canton Church of Christ where he served as an elder, a member of the building committee, and many other ministries. Before the age of retirement, he went back to work for Texas Instruments for several years and lived in Denton County, but remained very rooted in East Texas. Once he and Jeta retired, they headed back home, to East Texas and continued their adventures in Edom, Tyler, Hemphill, then back to Edom.

Finis' hobbies included traveling, wood-working, farming, making music, and cherishing his most valued treasures….his family.

Finis is survived by his wife, Jeta Fern Goss Brewer; children, Vicki and Gus Vess, Bud and Sue Brewer, Renee and Rusty Dickinson, and Dee and Randy Wooten; grandchildren, Shannon Vess Downing, Johnny Vess, David Brewer, Matt Welch, Nikki Dickinson Bartley, Brooke Dickinson Day, Russell Dickinson, Zach Dickinson, Taylor Wooten, and Colten Wooten; great-grandchildren, Brandon Vess, Ardyn Vess, Alli Rose, Amber Becar, Nicoles Welch, Morgan Herring, Sydnei Herring, Allie Hanna, Leighton Bartley, Ryder Day, Stryker Day, Logan Dickinson, Russell Dickinson III, Grayson Dickinson; great-great-grandson Elliot Becar. Finis also leaves behind one of his brothers, McLee Brewer.

He is preceded by his parents, Falvey and Laura Ballow Brewer; brothers Jack Brewer, Lonnie Brewer, Dawson Brewer, Paul Brewer, sisters, Opal Brewer Tankersley, and Hazel Brewer Bryce, granddaughter, Andrea (Andee) Wooten, great-granddaughter, Emma Grace Nastro.
