

Tom passed away peacefully on January 26, 2024 in Tyler, Texas, at the age of 74. Born and raised in Virginia, Tom enlisted in the United States Marine Corps at age 17 and proudly served in the Vietnam War. Following his service to his country, Tom became a Systems Analyst by trade.
On September 8, 2012, Tom married his true love, Theresa “Terry” Ondrejik. Tom and Terry created a beautiful life together, building their dream home in the country. Those that knew Tom know that he was a true fix it man that loved the country life, and enjoyed working on farm equipment and taking care of their property. Tom loved to cook, and you could often find him outdoors smoking meat or manning the grill. Tom and Terry lived life to the fullest in their retirement, and loved sitting on their deck drinking coffee or enjoying cocktail hour while watching the beautiful Texas sunsets.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Harlin C. Thompson, Sr. and Eleanor C. Thompson (Jackson).
Tom is survived by his beloved wife, Terry Thompson; daughter and son in law Tammi and Kevin Newman; son Charles Thompson; step-daughter and son in law Erika and Aaron Moburg-Jones; step-son and daughter in law Derrek and Mallori Schick; and grandchildren Addison, Carole Ann, Gregory, Hunter, Katie, Shawn, and Tommy. Tom’s life was full of love and he will live on in the hearts and memories of his family and his many friends.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00pm on Friday, February 2 at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton.
Interment will be held at DFW National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
