Irene Bailey Wells

Services for Irene Bailey Wells, 96, of Canton, are scheduled for 1 pm Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at the Eubank Funeral Home Chapel in Canton with Truman Oakley and Bro. Billy Smith officiating. Interment will be in Haven of Memories.

Mrs. Wells passed away Sunday, October 1, 2017, in Canton. She was born June 14, 1921, to Robert and Lessie Gilliam Bailey.

Irene was a member of the Corinth Missionary Baptist Church. She grew up in the Starr Community and was a proud graduate of Grand Saline High School. Irene was a homemaker and enjoyed travelling with her husband after he retired, gardening, spending time with her family and playing Forty-two.

Mrs. Wells is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 58 years, J.D. Wells; son-in-law, Truman Oakley, Sr.; and her sister, Inez White.

Irene is survived by her daughter, Robbie Oakley of Canton; granddaughter, Tammie and Tom Harp of Canton; grandson, Truman and Rebekah Oakley of Eustace; three great-grandchildren: Ty Harp, Samantha Oakley and Trey Oakley; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Ty Harp, Trey Oakley, Tom Harp, Gary Allen, Steve Allen, Randy Shelton and Thomas Walls.
