Jimmy Newton Luckett

Jimmy went home to the Lord on June 6, 2022 in Grand Saline, Texas. He was born on August 10, 1934 in Grand Saline, Texas to Newton Young Luckett and Gladys Lee Jacobs Luckett.

Jimmy grew up in Grand Saline and graduated from Grand Saline High School. In the early 50’s he joined the Navy and was a Marine. Jimmy was married to his beloved Iona Dillard Luckett for 41 beautiful years. After her passing, he married Ernestine Ballard, the couple had 3 years together before her passing. Jimmy moved to Kempner later in life. He was a long time member of School Creek Baptist Church. He enjoyed working on the Herron Ranch. Jimmy took pride in working around the ranch. He enjoyed mowing, trimming, hunting and activities that were outdoors. Jimmy was much loved by his church and the neighbors in Kempner. He loved the Lord, his family and friends.

Those on the other side to celebrate his coming home; his parents, Newton and Gladys Luckett; wife, Iona Luckett; wife, Ernestine Luckett; brother, Samuel Luckett; sisters, Willie Trussell, Mary Lee and Margie McNorton; nephew, Jimmy L. Luckett.

Jimmy is survived by those that will cherish his memory; stepsons, Jerrell and Jan Herron, Jerry and Carlene Herron; grandsons, James Herron, John W. and Debbie Herron, Jimmy W. Herron, Jeremy Herron, Kevin and Tonya Reed, Jerry W. Herron; thirteen nieces and nephews; a host of friends.

A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 10, 2022.

Interment will be at Creagleville Cemetery in Grand Saline, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, it was Jimmy’s wish that donations be made to the School Creek Baptist Church, 11228 CR 3420 Lampasas, Texas 76550.
