

Services for Jo Nell Hightower, 85, of Canton, will be held 1 pm Saturday, December 5, 2020, at First Baptist Church in Canton with Pastor Mike Roberson officiating. Interment will be in Royse City Cemetery.
Mrs. Hightower passed away December 1, 2020 at her home. She was born November 14, 1935 in Fate, TX to Delbert Ray and Vela Louise Richey Nixon.
Jo Nell grew up in Fate, TX and graduated from Royse City High School. She was a loving and devoted wife of 64 years to Ken Hightower. Jo Nell was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Canton. She loved the Lord and had a ministry of mailing cards to friends and family. Jo Nell retired from Varo Electronics in Garland. She enjoyed cooking and baking oatmeal cookies. Jo Nell loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was very proud of her family and friends.
Mrs. Hightower is preceded in death by her parents: Delbert and Vela Nixon; granddaughter, Stephanie Kaitlin Yates; and a brother, Clarence Ray Nixon.
Jo Nell is survived by her husband of 64 years, Ken Hightower of Canton; two daughters and their husbands: Debbie and David Yates of Greenville and Lorrie and Wayne Culpepper of Canton; a foster son and his wife, Charles and Katie Isaac of Dayton, TX; five grandchildren and their spouses: Dee Dee and Rob Vaughan, Lisa and Collis Anderson, Chris and Julia Culpepper, Brandon and Meagan Culpepper and John Oliver Yates; six great-grandchildren: Jayden Anderson, Casen Anderson, Camrin Anderson, Kenny Culpepper, Blair Culpepper and Lincoln (who is on the way).
Pallbearers will be Chris Culpepper, Brandon Culpepper, John Yates, Collis Anderson, Rob Vaughan and Jayden Anderson. Honorary pallbearers are Daniel Nixon, Jordan Nixon and Charles Isaac.
Family will receive friends 6-8 pm Friday at the funeral home. For the safety of family and friends, social distancing and masks are required.
