Nelda Onita Carter

Nelda was born on October 20, 1934 in Grand Saline and passed away on June 29, 2021 in College Station after a short illness.

Nelda grew up in Grand Saline and graduated from Grand Saline High School. She married her true love, Cecil Ray Carter, on October 9, 1952, they we’re married 57 years at his passing in 2009. Nelda was a member of 1st Baptist Church of College Station. She was a wife, mother, grand-mother and home maker. Nelda loved the Lord and her family was her everything.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Henry and Edna Vera Kirby and her beloved husband, Cecil Ray Carter.

Nelda is survived by Three sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Betty Carter from Baltimore, Maryland; Stacey and Patty Carter from Roanoke; and Tracy and Tamara Carter from College Station; Three grand-daughters and two grand-sons-in-law, Amanda and Cory Davis from Lemoore, California (and their daughter, Tatum); Jennifer Carter from Dallas; and Victoria and John Brundidge from Baltimore, Maryland; her sister, Dovie Edwards and her brother-in-law, Don Edwards from Grand Saline; a nephew and a niece, Kyle and Sandy Edwards from Chandler and Kelly and John Cannon from Jarrell. She also had five great nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers: Don Edwards (honorary), John Cannon, Scott Hosman, Rick Bailey, Pat Schmidt, Jon Warzel, and Richard Upton.

Interment will be at Liberty Cemetery in Van Zandt County.
