Raymond Jefferson Jones

Services for Raymond Jefferson Jones, 83, of Fruitvale, will be held 11 am Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton with Rev. Randall Mitchell, Chaplain John Strain and Rev. Gary Vaughn officiating. Interment will be in Haven of Memories.

Mr. Jones passed away January 26, 2025 in Grand Saline, TX. He was born February 8, 1941 in Edgewood to Jim Hamilton and Essie Mae Johnson Jones.

Raymond was an active member of First Baptist Church in Fruitvale where he served as a deacon for 47 years. He dearly loved his church and was willing to serve where needed, even as a song leader for a time. Raymond served in the US Army before starting a 20 year career with Lone Star Gas. He then worked 31 years for Morton Salt before retiring. He was a very kind and loving husband and father, always gentle and quiet.

Mr. Jones is preceded in death by his parents, Jim Jones and Essie Mae Jones; first wife, Madeline Jones; two sisters: Betty Hardin and Barbara Norden; and three brothers: E.L. Jones, Wayne Jones and Donald Jones.

Raymond is survived by his wife, Ruby Hall-Jones; daughter and son-in-law: Deborah and Todd Hamessley; son, Gregg Jones; daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Roger Carter; son and daughter-in-law, James and Stacey Merritt; son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Melissa Baker; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Wanda Roberts and Linda Ramm; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Pallbearers will be Casey Carter, Blake Merritt, Jessie Harris, Chase Hamessley, Clayton Carter, Carter Roberts and Logan Baker. Honorary pallbearers will be Vaughn Edwards, Randy Gipson, Charley Wheeler, Marvin Goforth and Leland Carter.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

If desired, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Fruitvale.
