Richard "Rick" Bert McKee

A memorial service will be held for Richard “Rick” Bert McKee, 64, of Mesquite, Texas at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Eubank Funeral Home with Richard Harris officiating. There will be a visitation at 12:30 p.m. prior to service. Mask are required.

Rick passed away peacefully surrounded by family at home on March 6, 2021. He was born on January 22, 1957 in Dallas, Texas to Herbert McKee Jr. and Dolores Jean Kipp McKee.

He grew up in Mesquite. On April 11, 1980 he married his one true love, Gwendolyn Elaine Friday. In his earlier years he enjoyed hunting and working on cars. He was a Christian by faith and a proud member of the Teamsters Union. Rick was an amazing cook, lover of a variety of music...especially Rock n Roll and had a great knowledge of history and random facts. Rick was a “Call it like you see man” you never had to guess where you stood with him. Rick’s pride and joy were his grandchildren. His biggest enjoyment came from attending the grandchildren’s activities. Rick loved his family and will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Dolores McKee; brother, Gary McKee; aunt, Freda Parker; bonus sister, Geraldine Willard; father in-law, Gerald Friday.

Rick is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Gwen McKee; daughter and bonus son, Amanda and Richard Smythe; son, Michael McKee; grandchildren, Katilyn “KK” Smythe, Tatum “Bugs” Smythe, Payton “PayPay” Smythe and Jorden “Golden Boy” McKee; sister, Janet and husband, Terry Raulston; brother, Tommy and wife, Crystal Breedlove; bonus mom, Barbara Friday; bonus siblings, Mary and Bud Mollenhauer, Brenda and Johnny Milton, Jessie and Bruce McTigue, Barbie and West Holmes; numerous nieces, nephew, cousins and friends.
