Thomas graduated from Magnolia High School in 1958 then went on to Texas A&M in 1959, Blinn College 1959-1960, and East Texas Commerce in 1960. That year he was drafted into the Army and served 2 years at Murphy Dome Missile base in Alaska. When he returned home he worked at Davis Manufacturing where he learned to be a machinist. Then from 1969-1982 he went to Houston Police Department where he worked the streets of Houston and moved up to be the range officer and become a firearms instructor as well as a competition shooter. It was there that he met his true love, Nancy Harrison on the shooting range. The two married in September of 1981 and were happily married 38 years at her passing. In 1983 they bought a farm and moved to Ben Wheeler, Texas. Thomas worked for the Tyler Police Department until he retired in 2005. His past times included machinery and being an avid gunsmith. He was a huge gun enthusiast. Thomas enjoyed spending time with family and he was the best story teller. He was a child of God and a member of Word of Victory Church in Canton, Texas. Thomas believed in the promise of our Savior Jesus Christ and is, no doubt, in heaven waiting with open arms for his family and friends to join him in peace when their time on earth is done. He has left an empty place in the hearts of that knew and loved him, but we have peace in knowing we will see him again.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Mina Hrobar; brother, Anthony Hrobar and his beloved wife, Nancy Hrobar.
Thomas is survived by his son, Harrison Hrobar; step son, Randy Wiggins and wife, Adrienne; grandchildren, Zane Wiggins and Josephine Smith; brother, Jerry Lee Hrobar; sister, Rose Hrobar.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life at 2:00 p.m. at the Hrobar home on Saturday, February 6, 2021.
