

After graduating from Bremen High School in Midlothian, IL, Art proudly served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Arcturus and the U.S.S. Orion as a Postal Clerk 3rd Class. Following his honorable discharge, he worked for the Public Works Department in Midlothian and served as a volunteer firefighter.
In 1972, Art joined the Oak Brook, IL Fire Department, where he rose to the rank of Captain before retiring in 1996. Throughout his career, he also served as the Emergency Medical Services Coordinator and worked in the fire inspection bureau. His dedication to public service left a lasting impact on the communities he served.
Art is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Carol; his children David (Kimberly) and Lisa Rountree (Joseph); his grandchildren Mark Johnson, Tristan Vazquez, Jaden, Reily, Christian, and Eli Rountree; and great-grandson Rhyatt Vazquez. He also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Margaret; his brother George; and his great-grandson Oliver Johnson.
A visitation for Arthur will be held on Friday, August 22nd from 10 - 12pm at Coral Ridge Funeral Home, 950 Chiquita Blvd. S, Cape Coral, FL 33991, followed by a funeral service with military honors at 12pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Art’s name to Wreaths Across America, honoring his lifelong commitment to service and country.
