

Charles Ellis Bechtel, Jr., 72, of Cape Coral died July 25th, 2012. He was born January 15th, 1940 in Roaring Spring, PA to Charles Ellis Bechtel, Sr. and Flora Furry Bechtel. He graduated from Morrison’s Cove High School and attended Penn State University. He was self-employed as a dairy farmer and later worked as a carpenter for the County of Blair (PA).
He was a member of the Lions Club and Blair County Master Gardeners. He was an active member of the Hollidaysburg Church of the Brethren and the Middle PA District Disaster Response Team. Following his move to Florida in 1997, he attended the First Congregational Church of Cape Coral.
He was preceded in death by his sister Ruth Bowser, half-brother C.Carl Bechtel, and half-sisters Erdene Smith and Belva Stiffler, and infant grandchildren Rebekah and Jacob Hulvey.
He is survived by wife Dorie Bechtel, daughters Julie Bechtel of Cape Coral, Betsy Bechtel Hulvey (Glenn)of Harrisonburg, VA and son Eric Bechtel of Cape Coral and grandson Matthew Hulvey, sisters Ann Stahl, Lou Lingenfelter and half sister Nita Somerville.
Memorials services will be held Saturday, July 28th at 2PM at First Congregational Church, 312 Santa Barbara Blvd, Cape Coral and Saturday, August 4th at 11AM at Hollidaysburg Church of the Brethren, 1208 Penn St, Hollidaysburg, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either church.
