

Clement “Shep” Shepard, 79, of Cape Coral, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2014 in Cape Coral, FL. Born in Franklin, IN to Marie and Luther Shepard on January 20, 1935, Shep graduated from Franklin High School in 1954 and served honorably in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Upon returning home to Franklin, Shep became a police officer for Franklin Police Department and continued working with his Dad in their business - Shepard’s Plumbing, Heating and Electric. He dedicated 20 years of service and retired from the department in 1980 as a Sergeant. He then moved his family to Florida and worked for the Lee County School Board until his retirement in 1997. Realizing he couldn’t sit still, Shep established Shep’s Handy Hand and stayed very busy helping people with their entire home repair needs. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and NASCAR…..good Ole’24. He was a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Police and a member of the American Legion.
Clement is survived by his beautiful, caring wife of 41 years Barbara; 3 sons Randy Shepard of WI, Kevin Shepard of Franklin, IN and Billy Ollmann of Cape Coral, FL, 3 daughters Deena (Mansor) Hallaji of Fairfax, VA, Missy (Eddie) Carmean of Cape Coral, FL and Lydia (Matt) Sellers of Cape Coral, FL; 3 siblings Ronald Shepard of Franklin, IN, Rick Shepard of Franklin, IN and Steve Wagner, the best friend that was like a brother; 10 grandchildren Ronnie Shepard Hill, Sabrina Hill, Cameron Mandich, Joshua Ollmann, Arian Hallaji, Victoria Ollmann, Emily Carmean, Melonie Sellers, Emilie Sellers and Matthew Sellers Jr. and many nieces and nephews.
Clement is preceded in death by his parents, as well as his sister Bonnie Lebo
A gathering will be held at Coral Ridge Funeral Home in Cape Coral on Saturday, May 17th between 10 - 11am with a memorial service to follow with Pastor Greg Sund officiating. Inurnment will follow at Coral Ridge Cemetery.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Cape Coral Hospice and all our friends and family for the support in his final days. Shep the gentle soul loved by all especially his family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Shep’s name to the Cape Coral Hospice.
