Derek was born and raised in Odenton, Maryland. He graduated from DeMatha High School. Derek received his Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice and furthered his education by becoming a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant. He is best known for his kind heart, bright smile, love of animals, and entertaining stories.
Derek is survived by his spouse, Ericka; two daughters, Everly and Olivia; parents, Cheryl and Kevin Clark; in-laws, Sony and Armando Sabath; sister, Alyce Clark and brother-in-law, Christopher Martinez; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Emily and Jackson Sabath; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Angela Petrello Sabath and Andrew Sabath; sister-in-law, Jessica Sabath; grandmother, Kay Clark; aunt, Tina Hibbs; aunt, Bernadette (Pat) Clerkin, aunt, Teresa Clark; uncle, Tommy (Lynn) Clark; uncle, Brian Clark; his nieces, Autumn, Amber, and Isabella Sabath, his nephews, Jackson Jr. and Armando Sabath. Derek also leaves behind many loving cousins, friends, coworkers, softball players, and DeMatha Alumni who will forever cherish his memory.
Derek was preceded in death by his grandparents, Donny Clark, Jerry and Lea Kolac, and his uncle Eddie Clark.
Locally, a memorial mass for Derek will be held Saturday, September 3, 2022, from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 2628 Del Prado Blvd S, Cape Coral, FL 33904.
A visitation will occur Saturday, September 10, 2022, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Joseph's Church, 1283 Odenton Road, Odenton, MD 21113. Followed by a mass of Christian burial from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A repast & celebration of life will occur immediately following the mass from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
