I met my beautiful drum majorette Carol in 1958 before she graduated from high school and move to California with her parents. Our long-distance courtship over the phone resulted in her moving back to Dayton because we knew we were meant to be together and I asked her for her hand in marriage. After Christmas, as we were planning our wedding I found out she was preparing to become a Catholic. We joined our hearts in matrimony on May 28, 1960, and began our life together.
We made a home for ourselves and she began to work in banking. We found a house to buy, but fate had a different direction. I got drafted into the army in 1963 and after my basic training, we moved to Ft. Hood Texas and remained there for my service duty. We had our first son Joseph while on active duty. After my tour with the army, we moved back to Dayton Ohio where we had our second son Christopher in 1967.
Carol remained a wonderful stay at home mother taking care of her family needs. She also was active in the community with her volunteer work at her children's schools and community events for the Dayton JC's. After 20 years with Ralph L. Woolpert company. I then received an offer in Florida, the desired location Carol and I wanted to live. I left to start my new job, She stayed behind to sell our home in Dayton. Carol and our two boys joined me in Sarasota Florida 1978 then Cape Coral two years later. When our children were old enough Carol went back into the workforce. She retired from Bank of America and went to work for the State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection then retired to finish her working carrier. She enjoyed her work and was very proud of her accomplishments.
My wife Carol was the one true love of my life for 59 wonderful years. I and my two sons, Joseph and Christopher have a very large void in our hearts. I fondly remember her favorite song by Roy Rogers “Happy Trails” Carol my sweet love Happy trails to you until we meet again. I love you, Carol.
