

Fred W. Tilly, Jr., a resident of Cape Coral, FL, passed away Monday, April 25, 2022 at the age of 97. Born in Toledo, OH on September 7, 1924, he was the son of the late Fred Tilly and Elsie Rust. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Joy (Kritzer) Tilly (b.1/29/24 - d.12/14/12). Fred and Joy were married for 64 years from May 8, 1948 until Joy’s death, December 14, 2012. He was also preceded in death by his sister Bernice (Tilly) Sherman and brother Vern Tilly.
Fred is survived by his loving family. His sister in law, Nancy Kritzer (George Iannacone) of Bucks County, PA. His nieces Karen Snyder and Tamara Lehmann of Toledo, OH. His nephews Karl Kritzer (Lori Iannacone) and Robert Kritzer (Alison) of Bucks County, PA and Roy Swanson of Toledo, OH.
Fred’s family thanks his good friends Rita Sieber and Melinda Hawkins of Cape Coral, FL (and their families) for the love and care they gave Fred.
During World War II, Fred served three years in the Navy as a Petty Officer, Second Class, Signalman, on a PT Boat based in the Philippines.
Fred was a Graphic Designer with Owens-Illinois beginning in 1947 until his retirement in 1983. Fred was President of the Athletic Council at the Duraglas Center and enjoyed all sports, especially golf. He was chairman of the O-I Golf League, Duraglas Center.
On January 30, 1991, Fred received the Johnnie Walker International Hole-In-One Award at the 4th hole of 150 yards on the Fort Myers Golf Links. On November 25, 1992, Fred received a second Johnnie Walker Hole-In-One Award at the 14th hole of 125 yards on the Fort Myers Golf Links.
A Celebration of Fred’s life will be scheduled by the family at a later date.
