Born January 22, 1935, in Ashland, Kentucky, Gail was the daughter of the late Carl and Francis (Lawson) Pruitt. She proudly served her country as a veteran of the United States Air Force, a role she carried with lifelong pride and humility.
Guided by a passion for helping others, Gail dedicated many years to her work as a special education teacher and reading specialist. Her love of reading was legendary—she often finished as many as three books in a single day—and she shared that love generously with her students, family, and anyone lucky enough to learn from her.
At home, Gail found joy in the simple, beautiful things: tending to her backyard, nurturing her flowers, and filling her home with the comforting aromas of her cooking. Nothing, however, brought her more happiness than time spent with her family. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cherishing every moment she had with them.
Gail was also deeply devoted to her faith and her church community. As a longtime member of First Cape Church, she treasured the fellowship, support, and friendships she found there.
Gail’s legacy is one of love, service, and quiet strength. She will be remembered for her generous heart, her unwavering devotion to family, and the countless lives she touched through her teaching and her kindness. She was preceded in death by brothers, Pete, Ralph, Jerry and Garis; sister, Sharon; sisters-in-law, Joey and Mille; as well as her brother-in-law, Woody.
Gail is survived by her two loving daughters, Amanda Losowski and her husband, Stan and Karen Fowler and her husband, Brad; two grandchildren, Rachel (Alex) and Mark (Whitney); three great granddaughters, Chloe, Suede and Lillia; as well as two sisters, Barbara and Rosemary (Larry) and sister in-laws Connie and Nancy as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 1:30 PM – 2:00 PM, Friday, April 24, 2026 at Coral Ridge Funeral Home, 950 Chiquita Boulevard S., Cape Coral, FL. A Funeral Service will be celebrated 2:00 PM, Friday, April 24, 2026 at Coral Ridge Funeral Home. Gail will be laid to rest in the Memory III Mausoleum of Coral Ridge Memorial Park where the United States Air Force will present Military Honors.
