

Janet Denise Smith, 63, of Cape Coral, Florida, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2026. Born in Oak Park, Illinois, Janet was the second oldest of five children born to James and Delores (Evanovich) Smith. Janet grew up in Hanover Park, Illinois. She enjoyed bowling and qualified for the Illinois State Bowling tournament as a teenager, placing in the top five. Janet was a devout Catholic, an avid reader, and an animal lover, growing up with Black Labs, then becoming a cat mom after moving to Cape Coral in 1994. She was also a talented jewelry maker, gifting her creations to family and friends. Janet was a licensed cosmetologist and also held a BS in Accounting. She was a huge fan of social media’s Noodles the Pooch, and was asked by Noodles’ parents to be a moderator for the popular website, which she happily volunteered her time to do right up until the time she fell ill. Noodles filled the space she had in her heart for a dog that she was unable to have in her home.
Janet is survived by her siblings, David Smith (Josephine); Susan Masouridis (Perry); Richard Smith (Christina); and Jeffrey Smith (Pamala); nieces and nephews Joseph (Olga) Smith, Kyle (Alexis) Smith; Alexander (Claire) Masouridis, Lorelei Masouridis; Alan (Jamie) Smith, Katelyn (AJ) Uecker; Heather Smith; and grandnephews Preston Smith and Liam Smith.
Janet was preceded in death by her mother and father, and nephew, Brendan Smith.
