John S. Cucchiara, 82 of Cape Coral, FL passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2013 after a long fight with cancer. He was born on December 16, 1930 in Brooklyn, NY to Dominic and Rose Tumberello Cucchiara. John owned and operated Manhattan Fur Dressing, where he was well known as “Johnny Spoon” and created his unique formulas for drying furs to use in the garment industry.
John is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Doris; his grand nephew, Joseph Cucchiara, who was like his the son; many nieces, nephews; and beloved cat, Jerry. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm on Wednesday at Coral Ridge Funeral Home, 1630 Pine Island Rd., Cape Coral. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Thursday at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 1922 SW 20th Ave., Cape Coral with Entombment to follow at Coral Ridge Cemetery.
