Jovanna Pieri

Jovanna Pieri, age 94, of Cape Coral, passed away Monday morning, October 10, 2022. She was the wife of Russell. Jovanna and Russ were married on August 8, 1959, celebrating 63 years of marriage. She was born in Alexander, New York on April 11, 1928 daughter of the late Ralph and Mary Avino Parise.

In addition to her husband, Jovanna is survived by three children, Jovanna “Pixie” (Scott) Trauscht, Suzanne (Mark) Ostertag, and Russell (Tonya) Pieri; six grandchildren, Corey (Tai) Trauscht, Melissa Sue Trauscht, Devin Lee Ostertag, Nicholas Ostertag, Noah Pieri, and Vinny Pieri; one great-grandchild, Malachi Trauscht. Also surviving are sisters, Mary (the late Joseph) Marchese and Amelia (the late Gerald) Sheelar, and many nieces and nephews. Jovanna was predeceased by siblings, Frances (Joseph) Cirillo, Carmen (Mary) Parise, Samuel (Patricia) Parise, and Ralph (Joan) Parise.

Jovanna had a successful career as a beautician and owner of Jovanna’s Beauty Shop for many years in western New York. An avid bowler, she acquired a nice trophy collection. Also known as an amazing cook, family and friends never left hungry after a visit with Jovanna.

Retiring to Florida, Jovanna and Russ stayed active with jobs at Disney World, Sea World, Baseball City, and volunteering at Mary, Queen of the Universe Shrine. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and Catholic Daughters of the Americas. A memorial service will be held at 10am on Saturday, October 29th at Coral Ridge Funeral Home and Cemetery in Cape Coral, Florida. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
