

He was born on March 25, 1943 in Newark, New Jersey to Thomas DeGeorgio and Josephine DeVito DeGeorgio.
He was a graduate of Bloomfield High School where until recently he held the school track and field shot put throwing record. Mr. DeGeorgio was a proud Veteran of the United States Marine Corps. LCpl DeGeorgio served as a Field Radio Operator, was a Pistol and Rifle Sharpshooter and completed Amphibious Warfare training. Upon completion of his military obligation, he attended Clemson University. On May 30, 1971 he married the love of his life, JoAnn Amabile in Toms River, New Jersey.
Mr. DeGeorgio was a Professional Fire Sprinkler Engineer for over 44 years owning his own business, Standard Fire Protection Design. He was a long-time resident of Toms River until he and his wife moved to Cape Coral in 2010 to enjoy a more relaxed lifestyle and traveling.
Mr. DeGeorgio had many hobbies. He was a life-long Corvette enthusiast and in his younger years, built his own drag racing cars and enjoyed Enduro motorcycle racing. He enjoyed hunting pheasant and quail with his beloved dog, Chivas, and beamed with pride when they would find birds other teams couldn’t. He was a private pilot for over 35 years and recently built an experimental Zenith aircraft with his friend. Like his father, he loved sitting outside on his lanai smoking his pipe or enjoying a cigar while watching the canal. He was an avid boater and loved his boat the “Andiamo”. He was the lead engineer and designer for his boat club’s entries into the Cape Coral Cardboard Boat Regatta winning many awards with his team over the years. Along with his wife, family and friends he loved cruising. His memberships included: Commodore of the Merry Mariners, Sea n’ Shore Cruisers, AOPA (Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association) and EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association).
Mr. DeGeorgio is survived by his loving family including his wife of almost 50 years, JoAnn DeGeorgio; daughters, Danielle DeGeorgio and her husband, Dennis Clarke II of Marlboro, NJ, and Tahryn Nicastro and her husband, Jeffrey of Howell, NJ; granddaughter, Sophia Clarke; and many friends.
Funeral Services with Marine Corp Honors will begin at 4:00pm on Friday, February 5th at Coral Ridge Funeral Home, with visitation starting at 2:00pm.
