Norman Eugene Collmer (88) passed away Monday, February 20th. He was born in South Bend, Indiana and attended Riley High School. Upon graduation Norman enlisted in the U.S. Army, during World War II and was stationed in Japan. After his return from the Army, he joined the South Bend Police Department where he proudly served for 20 years. After retirement from the Police Department he and his wife, Loretta, moved to Fort Myers, Florida where he took a position with the Lee County School Board as the Director of Maintenance Services until retirement.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Loretta. He is survived by his three children; Cathie Harshman (Dennis) of Nashville TN, Randy Collmer (Cinda) of Fort Myers, FL and Lori Spiczka of Cape Coral, FL. Norman also has four grandchildren; Robb Ebel (Dawn), Andrew Ebel (Kelly), Ryan Collmer (Nichole) and Leanne Thompson (Chad) along with five great-grandchildren. Services will be held on Friday, February 24th at Coral Ridge Funeral Home in Cape Coral, FL. at 11:30am. There will be a public viewing from 9:30am to 11:30am. In place of flowers a donation to Hope Hospice would be appreciated.
