Raymond Scelfo, 83, of Cape Coral was born June 10, 1928 in Newark, NJ to Vincent Scelfo and Maria di Giovanni Scelfo. He served as a medic in the U.S. Army (1951-1953). He worked as a plumber in the family business and then for Newark Housing Authority, until retirement. Ray was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Elks, and Am. Legion. He is survived by wife, June (Genevieve Cameron); children Genine Scelfo (Mike Dalbey) of CA, Vincent James Scelfo (Carol) of NJ, Raymond Scelfo, Jr. (Rose), of NJ, Katherine Downey (John) of GA; sister Josephine Silva of NJ; and seven grandchildren. He is pre-deceased by siblings Patricia Cerri, Teresa Scelfo, Charles Scelfo, all of NJ. A Memorial mass will be held 11:00 AM Thurs, Dec. 22, 2011 at St. Katharine Drexel Church, 1922 SW 20th Ave, Cape Coral, FL, a reception follows. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. A memorial service in NJ to be held later.
