Richard G. Engle

Richard G. “Dick” Engle, born Sept 15, 1941 in Elizabethtown, Pa, longtime resident of Hershey, Pa, and since 2000 of Cape Coral, Florida, passed into his Lord’s loving arms on May 5th, 2017 at 1 pm. Son of Jacob Martin and Ethel Garber Engle, he is predeceased by one brother Gerald, and survived by another, Harold.

He is survived by his loving wife and soulmate Graciela Engle, five children, Jodie, John, Jayne, Jesse, and Justin, and two step children Ricardo and Raquel. Together with sixteen grandchildren and one great grandchild he left a legacy of love and caring for others. Whenever the subject of family, extended family, and friends a warm glow followed as he was so very thankful for each of them and enumerated the many fine memories.

Founder of Central Business Systems, a recipient of numerous manufacturer achievement awards, his happiest vocational recollections were of the personal and professional growth of the CBS “family”. His contributions to the development of minority businesses earned citations from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the City of Harrisburg, and others.

In Florida he became a developer and was the owner, along with his wife, of Lighthouse Plaza on Pine Island Road.

His civic and fraternal activities include a twelve year term on the Hershey School Board, a fifty year member of Rotary International and a 32⁰ Free Mason.

He was also an active, generous supporter throughout the 26 years that his son has worked in Haiti. Dick and Graciela graciously hosted in their home on many occasions Haitian colleagues involved with the work.

Known for an “Attitude of Gratitude,” Dick was thankful in all things.

A Memorial Service will be held:

Saturday May 13th at 2 pm

Hope Hospice, 2430 Diplomat Parkway East, Cape Coral, Florida

followed by a reception

An additional Memorial Service will be held:

Saturday May 27th at 11:00 am at Bossler Mennonite Church Cemetery at 2021 Bossler Road, Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania

followed by a reception
