Richard William Roessler

Richard William Roessler from Cape Coral, FL, age 85 died on Wednesday, September 10, 2025. He was born in Norfolk, VA on August 27, 1940 to Bernhard and Jessie Roessler. Due to his father's Naval career he grew up in various locations including, Virginia, Illinois, New York, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Cuba and Florida. He graduated from high school in Pensacola, Florida and briefly attended Florida State University. From there he attended broadcasting school in Chicago. He then began his career in radio in McCook, Nebraska, later moving to Kearney, Nebraska. Kearney is where he met his wife Nancy (Henderson) of 42 years. They moved to Cape Coral, FL shortly after marrying.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents Bernhard and Jessie Roessler, as well as Nancy’s parents, Gerald and Beulah Henderson and his brother in law Gary Henderson. He is survived by wife Nancy, sons Jon (Beth) Roessler from La Quinta, California, Matt (Laurie) Roessler from Lincoln, Nebraska, daughter Rachel (Steve) Schmidt from Crete, Nebraska, sons Barrett (Shelly) Roessler from Maple Valley, Washington and Alex (Lindsey) Roessler from Cape Coral, Florida. He was most proud of his sixteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date where we will honor his wishes and love for the water, by spreading his ashes in the Gulf where he loved to sail.
