

Robert L. Egleston, age 86, of North Fort Myers, Florida, passed away peacefully at home after a long illness, with his loving wife, Shirley, at his side on Sunday May 17, 2015. Bob was born May 28, 1929 in Pittsburgh, PA., and was adopted by W. Earle and E. Marie Egleston. He graduated from Chardon, Ohio High School (class of 1947), and Baldwin-Wallace College (class of 1951). He served honorably on active duty in the United States Army during the Korean War. Robert married Shirley A. Myers July 10, 1964. He was a reading and math teacher and Junior High football coach at East Cleveland and Willoughby, Ohio.
After retiring in 1984, Bob and Shirley moved to DuBois, PA, where he enjoyed working on the Treasure Lake Gold Golf course. In 1993 they moved to Pine Lakes, N. Fort Myers, FL, where he enjoyed playing golf with many friends. Bob was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church where he served as an usher. He was a life member of the Punta Gorda Elks Lodge 2606, where he served as a volunteer, board member and general manager. Bob loved traveling all over the U.S. in his motor home. He enjoyed photography, reading and playing with the many cats and dogs he rescued.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Shirley Myers Egleston, from Ashland, Ohio, who wishes to thank Hope Hospice of Fort Myers for their compassion and care of her husband. Memorial contributions may be given to Messiah Lutheran Church or Hope Hospice of Fort Myers.
