Bob was a man whose love showed itself through action. He had a dry sense of humor and a fondness for a good prank, often surprising those around him with a quiet wit that stayed with you long after the moment passed. If something was broken, he fixed it, whether it was a project, a problem, or something someone else had given up on. If someone needed help, he showed up. He did not seek recognition. He simply did what needed to be done. An incredibly hard worker with seemingly endless energy and stamina, Bob spent most of his career in engineering, where his problem-solving skills and dedication were deeply valued. After retiring from engineering, he earned his real estate license and continued working with the same drive and commitment, serving clients and mentoring young agents at Century 21 Selling Paradise Realty. Even in retirement, he believed in staying active, useful, and engaged.
Bob proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He pursued his education while serving, balancing coursework with family and military life as frequent moves required flexibility and determination.
Service to others was central to Bob’s life. He was involved in numerous charitable and community organizations, including the Rotary Club, 65 Roses, and the Colony Sea Ray Boat Club. When his son was young, he volunteered as a Cub Scout leader, giving his time to mentor and guide others …including having his daughter participate! No girl scouts for her. He was a devoted member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church and an active member of the Knights of Columbus. His strong faith guided his actions and shaped the way he lived, served, and loved. Above all else, Bob was devoted to his family.
He was married to his loving wife and best friend for 56 years after meeting on a blind date, a story we all cherished. He is survived by his three loving children, son Bob (Jessica) Guillery Jr.; daughters Heather Guillery (Rob) Craig and and Melanie (Mark) Kilmer; sister Dianne Thueme of Casco, MI; eleven grandchildren and his first great grandchild on the way. His family knew without question that they could count on him for anything. He was their steady presence, their fixer, and their constant support.
Bob will be remembered for his huge heart, his selflessness, his faith, and the way he made others feel safe and supported. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the many friends he loved, the community he served, and the countless lives he touched simply by being himself.
