

Rowland Myers Hill, 81, of Cape Coral, FL passed away suddenly at home on April 28, 2019. He was born November 21, 1937 in Washington, DC. He was an expert in government and commercial contracting with the US Navy and several companies in the Northern Virginia/Washington area for over 35 years. He was a graduate of South Kent School, the American University for his BSBA, and George Washington University for his MBA. He retired and moved to Cape Coral May 22, 2006. After moving here he became a volunteer computer coach for the Cape Coral Regional Library. He then started working part time for the Northwest Library. He was a member of the Association of Old Crows and the Boy Scouts of America.
He was an avid racing fan, following many series, in particular the F1 Series. In his earlier years he was a crew chief of a racing team which included his cousin George as the driver. His favorite football team was the Washington Redskins. He had season tickets for many years. He also cheered the college Navy football team.
Rowland is survived by his beloved spouse of 7 years, Phillis Carbone, his children and grandchildren; Wendy (Stefan) Petras of Seattle, WA, son Liam; Andrew R Hill of Leesburg, VA, Shadi McPherson, daughter Abigail, sons Joshua & Devon; Lucas C Hill of Alexandria, VA; Carolina Hershey of McCleary, WA. He also leaves two sisters; Evelyn Zolondek of Lexington, KY, Anne Maxwell of Littleton, CO, one brother John (Mary) Hill of Annapolis, MD., his two stepsons; Robert (Teresa) Carbone; and Garry Carbone, all of Cape Coral, FL. Rowland also has 5 cousins, Dana Stone, Lady Lake, FL; Monte (Tim) Fetters, Ocala, FL; Nikki (Jim) Broadwell, Tucson, AZ; George (Paula) Stone, Charlottesville, VA, David (Mickey) Pugh, Stonington, CT.
Rowland was the son of the late John Rowland Hill and Persis Chase Myers. He was also predeceased by his step mother Riqui Hill Froeb. He was previously married to Lenore Hjerpe Albright and Diane Kelly Hill.
A cremation will be forth coming with a Celebration of Life to be held June 1st at 11:00 AM with a gathering starting at 10:00 AM at the Coral Ridge Funeral Home in Cape Coral.
