

Shirley Frances McLaren, age 99, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 21, 2019 in Cape Coral, Florida. She is survived by her two children, Frances (Jerome) Marks and Robert McLaren, her two grandchildren, Michelle (John) Lukow and Scott Marks, and her three great grandsons, Noah, Ethan, and Caleb Lukow.
Shirley was born in Detroit, Michigan to Herman and Frances Smith on April 15,1920. She was preceded in death by her brother, Herman, her sister, Rosamond, and her husband, Leonard McLaren.
She worked as a supervisor at Michigan Bell, and a secretary for the Birmingham School Board and Pembroke Elementary. In 1971, she moved to Cape Coral. There, she volunteered at the Cape Coral Library.
In her younger years, Shirley enjoyed bowling in leagues with her husband, swimming and boating at the lake, and traveling the United States in their motor home. She was also a lifetime member of the China Burma India (CBI) organization with her husband. Her hobbies included reading, sewing, and knitting.
She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who spent time caring for those she loved. To honor her life, please join us at the funeral service at the Coral Ridge Funeral Home in Cape Coral, Florida on July 29, 2019 at 11:00 am. Visitation will precede the service at 10:30.
