Stephanie Marks Peace

Stephanie M. Peace 49 of Cape Coral, FL peacefully passed away on Friday, November 17, 2023 at HOPE Hospice in Cape Coral. Stephanie was born on August 27th of 1974 to the Otto James “OJ” and Carolyn Marks in Clearwater, Florida. She was raised in Miami, Florida and was a 1992 Graduate of Miami Killian High School.

Stephanie was a former middle and high school teacher for the School District of Lee County for almost 17 years. She has work at various middle and high schools and most recently, for the past 6 years, Ida Baker High School. She officially retired from teaching in January of 2023 due to her growing health complications from Lung Cancer. She has resided in Cape Coral since 2007 with her husband and 4 children.

Stephanie was a graduate of the University of Memphis where she earned her Bachelors of Education Degree. She also possesses a Master’s Degree in Education Leadership. Mrs. Peace’s 26-year career in teaching started in Broward County and she has spent the past 17 years educating young adults at various school in the Cape Coral and Fort Myers areas.

Stephanie loved the outdoors and being active with her family. Stephanie was a strong advocate for Lung Cancer as she was fought this disease for 7 and ½ years. She was fearless in her pursuit of educating everyone about the dangers of lung cancer and an advocate for early screening. In doing so, she organized and attended various walks and summits locally and across the country to support the needed advocacy and research for the causes and cure of Lung Cancer.

Survivors include her family members, beloved friends and former colleagues. Her husband of 15 years, John K Peace, son Sean Peace and daughters Hailey and Makenna Peace of Cape Coral. In addition, her stepson, Christian Peace of Stuart, Florida. Additional survivors are her beloved mother Carolyn Marks and brother Chris Marks along with his beautiful family wife Teri Marks with sons James and Ryan Marks all of Cape Coral. She also has an additional brother, Randy Marks of north Florida. She was preceded in death by her father Otto James “OJ” Marks formerly of Cape Coral.

There will be a Celebration of Life on January 7th and an announcement will be forthcoming. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted to the family.
