Dorothy was born at Forget, Saskatchewan, second child to Mike and Mary Fraser. She attended the protestant separate school in Forget with a goal of becoming a teacher but instead left school to help out at home when her mother became ill. Her goal then changed to one of marrying Johnny Salisbury which she did on January 6, 1946. They farmed in the LaSalette school district about half way between Forget and Stoughton. All four children were born while they lived there. By 1960, they needed more land as did other area farmers so they sold to two neighbors and moved to a larger farm 8 ½ miles South of Manor Saskatchewan part of which Dorothy still owned at the time of her passing. She loved her farm and managed to hold on to it for more than 34 years after losing Johnny in 1985. Dorothy moved to Moose Mountain Lodge in March of 2015 where she spent close to five happy years. She really enjoyed life at the lodge and there was not a single day that she expressed a desire to move back home. She often said “I’m in a good place. Everyone is so nice here”. She passed away peacefully in her sleep and we are sure that she is on her way to an even better place.
