Barbara Cartmel

Barbara (Barb) L. Cartmel, of Carmel/Fishers, Indiana passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2023. She was born October 10, 1942 in Astoria, NY. Barb graduated from Bayside High School in Flushing, NY, class of 1960. Barb was an amazing woman with great integrity and never-ending devotion to her family. She had an infectious giggle that made everyone smile. Her biggest achievement in life was raising a loving family. She will always be remembered for her kindness and unconditional love. Her favorite times were family gatherings with everyone together. She was a devoted and loving mother to seven children, Donna Justice (Greg), Debra Marquardt (Jack), Diane Rapp (Murray), Kevin Schroepfer (Lauren), Todd Cartmel (Eva), Tyler Cartmel (Jessica) and Travis Cartmel (Lauren). Her beloved 17 grandchildren include: Alex (Ashley), Kristen (Cole), Sean (Alyssa), Nicole (Noah), Cooper, Kylie, Payton, Brooke (Thomas), Blake, Madeline, Hannah, Natalie, Tucker, Kinsey, Olivia, Graham and Savannah. Her cherished great-grandchildren include: Maya, Mason, Nolan, Ty, Lorelei, Rowan, Jubilee and another great-grandchild due in August. She is survived by her wonderful family in New York including her siblings, Harry Kramer, Louis Kramer (Joanne), Dorie Hidalgo (John), John Kramer (Marica), and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Barb was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Thomas Cartmel; her parents, Harry and Doris Kramer and sisters, Judith Kramer and Carol Kramer. Visitation for Barb will be from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 1st, 2023, at Leppert Mortuary – Smith Carmel Chapel, with funeral services to begin directly after at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow in Carmel Cemetery.
