Carol (Grubaugh) Kline

87, of Carmel, Indiana departed this life Friday, October 29, 2021. Carol was born September 15,, 1934 in Carter, Oklahoma to the late John and Margaret (Cook) Hale. She had earned her degree in nursing from St. John’s School of Nursing in Springfield, Illinois in 1955.

Carol worked her entire life dedicating herself to others. As a nurse, she had worked at Community East Hospital in Indianapolis in the labor and delivery department. She then worked for Dr. Robert D. Arnold, an OBGYN, for over 20 years, retiring in 1995. Carol was a kind and gentle soul who put her faith and family first in her life. She was an active and reliable volunteer for her church families over the years at Central Christian Church in Carmel and later at Hazel Dell – Venture Christian Church.

She loved to travel and learn about different regions and cultures. She especially liked organizing and planning trips not only for her family, but also for “Spirit Lifters”, a church based travel group. Carol loved her memorable trips to Arizona, Florida, Alaska, Greece and the Holy Land of Israel. She also regularly attended a special annual event for seniors at Johnson Bible College that she looked forward to every year.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Kline; former husband, James Grubaugh; grandson, Alex Karcher and bothers, Daryl and Bob Hale. She is survived by her loving children, Kent (Kelly) Grubaugh and Julie (Brad) Karcher; grateful grandchildren, Jim (Amanda) Grubaugh, Megan (Geoff) Godbout, Max Karcher and Mikaela Karcher; beloved great-grandchildren, Jolene and Jack Grubaugh and Charlotte Godbout and dear sister, Judy (Gary) Owens.

Visitation for Carol will be from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Wednesday, November 3rd at Leppert Mortuary – Smith Carmel Chapel followed by graveside services at Carmel Cemetery. Rev. Tony Johnson of Venture Christian Church will officiate.
